Dr David Paling Consultant Neurologist, Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield

Dr Paling is a consultant neurologist and clinical lead for MS. He has led development of services, alongside nurse colleagues, to provide a holistic approach to the care of people with MS. He has guided and supported nurses in introducing different aspects of care, such as acupuncture and continence clinics. He has also actively encouraged them to present their work at meetings, helping them to be recognised too. He is involved in the development and delivery of educational programmes for all members of the MS team and advocates the wider multidisciplinary team too. He is an active member of the educational team delivering the neurological examination for the MS nurse course in Manchester, and acts as a mentor to those members of his team that have attended the course
