Iris Hume MS Specialist Nurse, South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust

Iris coordinated and led the first educational course in Northern Ireland specifically addressing issues in progressive MS for patients, their relatives and allied health professionals. She has played a key role in establishing MS nurse led clinics for people with relapsing MS who are taking disease-modifying treatments. In 2016, she was appointed to one of two new positions as an MS nurse in the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust. She has co-ordinated and rapidly developed this new service, improving access to high-quality care for patients with MS in this region. Iris encourages her team to consider novel ways to improve the patient’s experience, is a passionate patient advocate and serves as a role model for future MS Specialist Nurses.
